Yes but you have to see the the lambs. Not been there for a few years and forgot how many lambs were out of mules which are very popular in the Cotswold’s so they are never going to be top draw. But farmers fresh are big buyer there and lean was what was wanted.
our singles run on NT ground, it’s beyond shite. Grows a good store lamb but won’t even fatten singles. So they all come off, get weaned and normally finish here on aftermaths.obviously this year we’ve been very tight on grass (some fool kept buying feeders) so they had to wait until keep came available to get out and start piling it on. I could have corned them… but what’s the point with corn at £360 and lamb at £2.35?
Normally shift 200 by mid September but grass situation buggered that plan.

We do the opposite singles on reasonably good bit and often offer some creep try and off load at 10-14 weeks then cull 50% of the ewes as well helps slacken the grass ...….. everyone has different systems on it also helps that we have 3 outlets for sheep within 4 miles of the farmHahaha

When they were at 5.15 a few weeks ago it was well ahead of the marts. There usually on the ball but obviously thinking this week is a one off to not put it up. Really lambs at 250 all week, they should be around 5.40.Was quoted that yesterdayWould think they’ll pay more though

What buggers it really is the NT are against any kind of feeding on their ground. I have an agreement with the head ranger that I can drop mineral blocks out in secluded areas as long as they are blocks not buckets so his bosses won’t see them. It annoys the hell out of me. On decent doing most of my singles would be gone by the end of July.
Heard all the export sheep from Sunday are in quarantine in one farm in Ireland just now not sure how true the story is

47.5 kilo lambs will average say 20 kilos dead @ 5.30 = £106 head so live would be better then deadweight unless they average around 21.5+ kilos @5.30
Deadweight base is now 5.45.

Yes , maybe so, but I'm not going to die waiting for them to reach £7 by which time they would need to be £8..... cost of production is irrelevant to the consumer at least until the point is reached when supply becomes limited,...you want more for our produce then we have to undersupply the demand

All depends who is on the scales in your local market , a friend unloaded some nice fed lambs that were weighed 35kg after some complaints they were re weighed 38.5kg , 40 lambs
