Are you saying there’s usually not enough money to go round? It happens within our sector though, never mind between sectors. For finishers to do well they have to squeeze the breeder, and when the breeders doing well the finishers getting squeezed usually. Rare for both parties to be on to a good screw.
Had corn rep from carrs Billington in the yard today.. felt very important it’s a rare occasion any f**ker wants too come out and see me!! £395ton for rolls in bulk

Lovely place on a nice daytbf not that bad here. the ones who maybe dont feed enough might get that.
paying £60 a haybale on top of that,
Like i said before ive changed to all Hebrideans. Put half of the ewes to a texel, might lose a few pound in the ring but will save a fortune on feed and time feeding them. Be able to run more too and hopefully in the next couple years well be selling lamb boxes. Weathers getting worse here, alot wetter than it used to be and having sheep on the croft this time of year is just not worth it. On my second hay bale so far. They're getting punted out onto the hill in the next few weeks. Atleast they will have scope and shelter. Will get fed 3-4 times a week on the hill to keep them ticking. Hopefully get a scanner this year

I don't know @Nithsdale Farmer that well, but i don't think he'd be happy paying £30k at a mart!Happily spend 30k at mart but complain for weeks about taking her out for a £65 meal

Longtown start selling ewes at 7 am,up till about 12. They have a short break then go onto the lambs. If there are more ewes in they sell them at the end past 6pm. So its not so easy to be there at point of sale if you travel from distance. So you didn’t go to ‘look after them’ and they took the pee?
Sell live to thrive they say… The auctioneers certainly do anyway.

I don’t stay at marts as a rule makes no difference I’m afraidYes, I know. You shouldn’t have to be there though, the auctioneers are supposed to be working for those that pay their wages!
I know it makes a difference if you are stood there, but it shouldn’t.
Seem to remember someone grumping at the mart in springtime that the 40 bag pallet they had got was 22.5kg bags. Don't think he actually said what maker.£447.20 for 40 x 25kgs bags from galloway and macleod for me. throw another 50-70 onto that for delivery
