All things Dairy

I see that the latest NZ government report "Freshwater 2023" has pointed the finger squarely at the dairy industry for "making 45pc of their entire river length unfit for swimming in due to bacterial loading"
Calls for reduction in cow numbers as 6.3m head is "way too high"

And I see that there are calls to cut livestock numbers in Herefordshire by 1/3.

Happy days .....

Must admit this is the first I have heard of this despite going to numerous phosphate meetings, hopefully just headline grabbing nonsense, can’t remember the exact figure but I think I’ve heard there is more tonnes of chicken meat produced in Herefordshire/ Shropshire/ Powys than the rest of the country combined but guess chicken aren’t counted as livestock.

and l read an article from WHO, getting worried about food production, as phosphate use was being cut back to far, it would seem, we cannot win.

Late night calving twins out this cow, she’d have went on to hit 60L if it had been a single. Can never seem to get cows going after a set of twins.

we have had more twins than normal this year, and vet has pd several i/c now. Hate twins, can make the job of getting the cow i/c harder, and they don't milk so well.

just had a count up, 11 sets, out of 120 calving's. Would really like to know why, even 1 hfr had a twin.

Does anyone else get complains from neighbours. Contractor in today spreading with dribble bar, photo from our gate sent to me by neighbours, gate leads on the road then their property is other side of the road, saying we spread to close to their property. Week ahead looks dry. Just don't seam to be able to farm without peeing off someone!

You're farming perfectly well, and your neighbours are choosing to be p*ssed off.

Looks a tidy job.

I had crazy horsey people move onto the property on the lane I use to access a field. They tried to stop me using it, phoned the police and everything. The police actually turned up around half a dozen times. It amazes me because when your house gets burgled, the police don’t turn up for hours.
the simple Simon fxxkers even blocked the road to stop me leaving once.

Just reply saying "Lovely photo, I'll have 1 copy for on my desk, a small one for my wallet and a large one to frame for the Lounge.

Too late now, you've spread it
Honestly people get worse & worse, have complaints about mud on roads from cow crossing, contractors driving on verges, smells from slurry, bird scarers! Have been reported to Council & had photos sent to landlords in the past. Kind of fed up with it, only positive if does give me something to write in the red tractor complaints book🙄
