More than that now for a good stockperson ;), 28 days holiday plus bank holidays means if your a grafter then you can work extra days for other people or you own stock (like I do) to boost you income even more.
Hard to understand how farmers afford these people , once that sub money goes to environmental id be concerned they will be getting paid off…

I’m the same. I never watch any news channels or newspapers. I don’t listen to anything bar what I want to hear. I farm how I want to. Any thing like a nvz I deal with as and when I need to. I’m driving on how I want and that’s not changing any time soon

Some will find that admirable, others will think you've got your head in the sand.
Personally, I think " I don’t listen to anything bar what I want to hear" is rather foolhardy.
Better to make a conscious decision to ignore something than carry on oblivious.

People need to eat, and I can’t see folk being very happy eating pluses and veg 3xday

It's not just that, stock are the cornerstone of sustainability.
Even George Utterlyincompetent said we need to replace chemical fertilisers with organic ones and then promptly said we should stop producing beef if we can compete with imports.
They rightly make a huge thing of protecting and enhancing soils. They need livestock.

I don’t have my head in the sand I just don’t buy into any of the crap being told on tv and social media. I’m better off mentally as well. I don’t worry about things line nvz and new regs that may come out. I was told I needed 6 months storage for pig muck so I built a store that could hold it for at least 6 months. Instead of moaning about rules and regs I’m proactive and adapt as I’m going along

Once the sub goes I think a lot of stock will disappear….it’s been propping the job up
When I started farming I never got any subs and what I get now is only a fraction of what most get. I can farm without it. Maybe some of us first generation farmers will get a chance when we’re all on the same page. I for one will be building my stock and farm up when the subs go

You think you can farm without it , think a bit more and you might not to be able to farm without other farmers …. I doubt you make much without it either …. Yes money is to be made with it and i hope one day all make a great living with out but we all need each other and many many more can not farm without it .

I hear this a lot.
If you can farm without it how come you haven’t built up a business while it’s been there ?
