We've had heavy dews or mist most mornings, plenty of septoria about in Wiltshire
Can you make sure Rob that you keep the dews and Septoria. Be grateful. We have been blessed past couple weeks with dry, cool easterlies. Still have plenty Septoria, Chocolate Spot, Downy Mildew and Yellow Rust where sprayer missed, but the past two weeks weather has given me a little more optimism.

I will keep the dews and mist if you take my blackgrass, several round here have silaged large areas and now planting maize instead, it has to be the worse ever for many including me, yet strangely hardly any wild oats, not treated a single acre

Well pretty much the only field we have not treated for wild oats is bloody full of them now.... :banghead:

Ah yes the Blackgrass. I will send you my special spectacles. Got them from Specsavers in Barnard Castle. No Blackgrass as far as I can see!!! Best wishes.

If you like 4T/ha crops....
Dry years always higher yielding here
full profile of moisture here gives us 6 inches of rain equivalent
the year we had only an inch a month from March to end of august was our highest average yield
13 % protein hereward at 4 tonnes per acre
same weather in the 2020s with current varieties would give near 5 tonne per acre

It's only 2 inches here, which means, unless we get rain soon, at least 2 tonnes/acre more for you than for us.

Even better, given there's quite a bit of land up and down the country not very much better than ours, your prices might improve, too.

There is enough moisture for the time being here around the rooting zones but the heavy rain of a fortnight ago put a crust on the top of vining pea and sugar beet that even a heavy set of ring rolls hardly marked . North East wind set in now for several more days to come, spraying days are few and far between and will soon have to go windy or not to catch up.

Shaping up just like 1975 - a very dry summer after an extraordinarily wet winter - worst year ever here, only way we turned big loss into small profit was by buying a new combine.
