Where are you? Its been a while but last time I was in South Oxfordshire I saw the prices in Newitts in Thame and wondered how anybody survived then went up to Leicester and the local butcher was about half the price.

Here that would cost you £21.85 although I have never yet spoken to a farmer who could accurately estimate the retail value of a beef animal, which is both surprising, shocking and sad.

£18.40 /kg, so £22.36. I’d probably round that down to £22.

Just pay the money ffs. Or go to your local farm shop or farmers market and buy direct from the producer if you resent an independent butcher trying to make a living. What are you wanting to do , compare the price to Tesco ? Why ? Muppet.
But we don’t know how much it was yet. I tend to agree with your comments but it is always possible that the wife of the OP had her leg lifted.
