I was docked 1% on a ewe missing her Eid tag. Would have been 3% if I hadn’t had it replaced within 14 days. The swine wouldn’t let me cut the other out and put 2 red tags in then a quick cross reference in the register. The only thing she found wrong too 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
I’m pleased I don’t claim BPS. I couldn’t put up with that sort of nonsense.

Last time she was here the inspector scanned 60 ewes, found the one missing her Eid which i’d missed. Then picked a random 4 to check both tags matched and I had to find the record of those 4 coming on the premises.
What if they're born on the holding?
Do you have to have them written down?
In effect they haven't come onto the holding because they're born on it.

Not be long and it won't be worth claiming.

She was in the wrong then - because you are allowed to do that, as that is exactly what the protocol is - it even says in the guidance notes for an inspection you're allowed to replace tags Infront of the inspector 🤦🏻‍♂️ you do that and there is no automatic follow up in 14 days!!

By not letting you, she actively stopped you from complying with the rules. That's not what she is there for, she's oniy there to check you're following the rules - she was in direct contradiction of Cross Compliance

You must keep a full list of every ewe you have on the farm. So, when you retain your ewe lambs and tag them - you record every individual number and put an entry in the flock book with the date you tagged them.

Replacing lost tags in a none homebred sheep is either by ordering a replacement tag of its existing number or replacing it with double red tag and cross referencing it in register so can't see why she wouldn't let you

I thought this 🤷🏻‍♂️ problem found and rectified properly within 2 minutes and in front of the inspector. I thought that would have been perfect but no she wouldn’t have it.
Really pee'd me off afterwards when I got the penalty for it and everything else was grand. But I really don’t go in for arguing with inspectors, you’re not gunna win. The last one we had here was grand. Pointed out couple of errors, I corrected them and she ticked it all off.

Exactly. Replace with 2 red tags and cross reference in the register. Exactly to the letter of the law. I got the feeling she was gunna find something somewhere to fine me for and that was it

You're in a foreign country though, so the rules might be slightly different (usually for the sake of it) to those in England, as are ours in Wales.

Also, the RPA are more twuntish than their equivalents elsewhere IME.
