Is that normal course or circumstantial
The getting them in a shed? It has been for the last couple of years, for different reasons.

New green stuff has grown them well this year, but not finished them. Went to a ‘herbal ley master class’ last week, where lots of people dabbling in them said the same. I reckon the protein is too high and out of balance, so growing frame without the energy to finish them.
My lambs have averaged £125 so far this Autumn, after around a tenner’s worth of feed, so not too unhappy about it.

Lot of big lean lambs about getting housed now might cause a hiccup later

I’m thinking the lower scanning percentage last year, along with low prices in NZ & Aus, will have had the supermarkets’ agents organising boatloads for the Spring. That’s the ‘hiccup later’ that I’m most concerned about tbh, but the store lamb buyers certainly don’t seem to share my view.

I’ll keep pushing them out if they’re anywhere near. Bird in the hand and all that…

No I think there will be a lot of heavy lambs about now but lean then early December they will come out after hoppering. I don’t think they will go backwards due to Xmas trade but maybe stand still at £3 per kilo. Over new year January they will be a nice trade £3.30 kilo then ease off before going super dear late March averaging £3.80-4.00. £5-6 for good Hoggs. That’s my balls on the block for a hopefully real prediction. We all need some luck along the way a good payday is needed and farming works opposite to the economy.

I hope you’re right, it will make a lot of people happy.👍
I’ll not be holding everything back for it myself though. I will keep a few back for April, but they’re not the ones that would be wanting to see a hopper yet anyway.

Absolutely I never begrudge anyone a good trade plenty of work involved for everyone to get them to sale point. I have a handful of jesters left nothing else so I’m not in the race but don’t mind seeing others do well for keeping Hoggs all winter

Its good to "DayDream". And a 50/50 chance of being correct.

I do think though that March/April £4 is too optimistic. I think trading will balk at £3-50, with if there is scarcity maybe have to go to £3-80.
A lot will depend on exchange rates and when festivals are. Ramadam is March, and Hajj is mid june. so Hogg trade?
