Surprised it's not colder for your location and time of year.
Temps equivalent of those (on a NE wind, admittedly) in temperate SW Blighty last week and similar next week, with daffodils nearly out in flower.

-6c isn’t that bad. It was that here in central France this morning. Nice to have some firm ground and the frost in the trees is pretty. Or did you mean -60 and you lost your finger that types the 0 to frostbite
Big deal if it’s out too long. House will freeze up, pipes will burst, we freeze.

No. I picked up a generator but don’t have a transfer switch installed yet.

I would worry about that and even here like to have two or three different heating cooking sources and whilst fairly rural no where near as isolated as you are there.
Bottled gas is an excellent way of having something as back up.

good point , might behave differently outdoors i guess but kept / used indoors should be ok surely.
the likes of the super ser room heaters are a great portable infrequent use tool.

Butane 0C, Propane -42C, so you could still be in trouble with propane, especially when you offtake it the bottle will cool.
I know of several homes on propane that are currently froze up.
Propane is easily accessible in towns here in BBQ tanks. The issue would be getting to town. My car didn’t start Friday morning, I haven’t tried it since. Nothing else is plugged in so no chance of those vehicles being available for an emergency run.
