Amazing that we are all conned into talking about the fuel “rebate” as if we should be thankful.
Road diesel is taxed because its used on roads, thats why its called derv (diesel engine road vehicle).
Non road diesel has never been taxed until the great imbecile Crash Gordon slapped 13p on it in 2000 which led to the fuel protest.
Then in 2022 they took red deisel away from construction and industry which has resulted in massive inflation of many essential products. Now construction is collapsing.

Fuel to agriculture is rebated as a sop to us to keep food cheap as Clarkson points out.
He is bigly right that there is no way the supermarkets can sell at their prices without screwing the primary producers
Then again, no one will vote for higher food prices so we are screwed either way

the nfu 'council' top table what ever / by comment from their so called leader ( ) seem to think that we should produce cheap food . Rebated (or discounted if you prefer) in terms of being turned in to “red” but you know what I mean

The worrying thing is that they don't seem concerned that they are supporting things that they should be opposing with all their might.
