I can see why people pay big money to have professionals take cow photos.Very fresh heifer calved in, with a nice heifer
one of the most enjoyable things is seeing my own heifers coming through now

Completely agree. If i was selling any I'd 100% have them clipped, washed and someone decent doing photos. The difference it make sis astounding. Even sassy the expensive one from Aintree has a thick woolly coat atm, is dry and a bit dirty on her back legs, she looks far from being worth a fortune atm ! The amount you can hide/promote with a set of clippers and a bucket of water really is astonishing.I can see why people pay big money to have professionals take cow photos.
Zooming in and scrolling round she doesn't look bad but first impression wasn't great but totally accept it's the photo not the cow.
Out of interest why would you expect her to look better in a month. She will have lost condition over the next month. My heifers take probably 4 months to have grown and put in extra condition from calving to look much betterCompletely agree. I did try and get some nice photos but I'm far from a professional photographer and she was far more interested in eating/drinking!
She's not my best heifer, she's good, she'll put milk in the tank, I doubt she will be here in 10 years probably a cow that will do 3-5 lactations before calling it a day. I'd like better rear udder attachment and width, teat placement is good, rump width is ok, chest width is ok/meh would like a bit more width and spring in the rib, can't comment on milk yield and constituents yet obviously nor fertility which are probably more important in the long run.
Having said all that about her, she's very very fresh and has quite a lot of nurturing to her, be interesting to see what she looks like in a month. I suspect a lot better than how she currently looks. I think she'll milk well too.
She'll have lost her pot belly underneath and her udder will be settled out, she'll be calmer in herself and I would hope she cleans up a bit - I keep the dry cow shed as clean as possible but always find they end up with dung on their legs and stomach when loose housed.Out of interest why would you expect her to look better in a month. Put sheep on it 🫣Is this a covered lagoon
not so funny, seen 2 covered lagoons, that haven't been used for years, with good growth on top of the sheet/covering. Neither looked like lagoons, what would happen if animals, or a person tried to cross ? One of those lagoons had bushes growing on top.Put sheep on it 🫣
