late Grain sorghum, planted after Christmas.
Planted on 1 m rows at around 80,000 seeds / ha
I have posted a couple of similar pics since planting for comparison purposes ( with the beer stubbie ).
Very hot ( high 30’s / low 40’s ) last couple of weeks, so even though there is plenty of subsoil moisture available, the plants are feeling heat stressed

This shows the absolute importance of soil types & moisture conservation / ground cover / zero till in our environment & a “dryland” ( rain grown - no irrigation ) system.
I am farming on a floodplain with deep, heavy, black clay soils that have very high water holding capacity ( ie can store a lot of water ). These pics are the same crop / field, but on the edge of the floodplain where it runs into lighter & shallower soil. That is the only difference. Soil type & water holding capacity. Also, lack of groundcover from previous crop ( for the same reasons )

You are on a flood plain . Do you get salt coming up in your area it used to be talked about years ago in some farming press? may be a different area.
