To a terminal sire? What is the plan after they lamb??
No, they went to my home bred easycare rams, some of which will carry inverdale. All ewe lambs are retained for breeding, and tupped in their first autumn.

Wethers will leave the farm in Oct, either sold store or out on finishing tack, dependent on market conditions and cashflow.

Any ewe lambs coming through that might be double Inverdale carriers yet?

I think being so close to Neil Fell, you'd be mad to consider anything other than using him.
The problem with any contract dipper is you can’t get them without a wait and if you’ve just bought some sheep or just spotted a problem you can’t afford to wait without doing something immediately. Also you need to have a big enough number to make it worthwhile them coming and have good access for a lorry.

Opinions are like arseholes, this group is full of them 😂 so with that in mind…

There is currently a gov grant available for a mobile dipping trailer and it’s tempting me. I’ve never been involved in dipping other than once last year after I bought some scratty shite out of everyone’s favourite Cumbrian mart. If I want to broaden my buying options for store lambs then dipping ought to be considered for part of my quarantine procedure

What are the likely costs incurred of doing your own dipping such as courses, licenses, dip disposal fee/license? It sounds like they’re tightening up on dip and disposal so is it just a headache if you’re not already in the job?

What’s your thoughts?
I wouldn’t dream of having a standard mobile dip,I’d make a mobile chip pan dipper, trouble is it’s all the bullshît that goes with it that’s the problem, dipping license, disposal license etc

Is it possible to find out where a herd numbers from online?

Going through last of lambs and lot from one place $h!te. Would like to identify where they come from to avoid buying from them again.

Last load of absolute shite I had, came out of Scotland. Saw the auctioneer at the RHS and told him, he said to ring him with the UK number and he’d tell me where they came from. Another name on the list of “do NOT touch, even if they’re REALLY REALLY REALLY cheap”
