You had direct access, on several occasions. Why didn’t you get them to use GMP* instead of GMP100?🤷‍♂️
The meetings were about sfi and Janet does not decided on gwp type stuff.

BFU has a working group with AHDB.
They were all keen for our input on gwp*
Regular interaction. But once we started proving the argument for gwp* they have backed off..

I know, 100%, where you are coming from. But we wont be cancelling. Various attempts at representative bodies have come and gone. Very difficult to start from scratch in an expanding industry, never mind a retracting one. The reality is, whether anyone likes it or not, that our best hope of decent representation is to get the NFU to do its job better. Which starts with members kicking off and telling their elected reps what needs to change, not just muttering on here.
Been quite a few people say they tried to tell the problems but they just get shut down or ignored.
If your not a yes man to the cartels agenda, then you don't progress up the ranks.
The only way the nfu could reform would be for everyone above simple member level to resign. Then have a restart with 1 man 1 vote for every post going forwards.
But it will never happen as the ones on the greasy pile now will never agree to it as they know that they unlikely to get voted in.

I know that there are quietly more farmers
joining the bfu but if someone asked me what
they stand for or what they want to achieve i wouldn't
have a clue.I'm not trying to be critical just my personal observation.

How about get the cancellation of the GFC and not allowing private companies like RT to distort the market?

in my experience they will do nothing on this particular issue, just look at the attitude demonstrated by leadership this last month, there is a massive conflict of interest over this RT issue and they will support Red tractor to moon and back

your membership is your only direct vote on this ....... if / when they do as the majority clearly want then simply rejoin, if they don’t they are no longer fit for purpose
All of these lobbying bodies are too close to the enemy by far.
Look at BASC on lead shot...ramming home policy for which there is no evidence. Better take lead out of houses than messing about with shot. They also have a plan to create a network for DSC 2 holders to stalk across the country, having said all along that they would never advocate DSC qualifications as a requirement.
Look at the Countryside Alliance, planning to adopt a version of Red Tractor for game shoots. They have all lost their way and need to get back to doing what they are paid to do. Rumour had it they were there for their members. They seem to have forgotten who pays their wages and what they are there for.
None are worth the sub. Bin them all off.

Had the NFU branch secretary around yesterday, apparently we will loose £800 discount on farm insurance and life cover of £60k from cancelling.

He said cancelling is not the way to bring around change, and he’s only had one other cancel in his patch🤷‍♂️
We left NFU mutual when we cancelled NFU, went back to mutual a year later and it was much cheaper than when we had all the so called benefits of membership. It's rubbish, and they really don't like to accept/admit how many have resigned.

If he has only had one other leave in his patch he will not be bothered then.

If you do quit the NFU, you can rejoin at a later date if you wish, I do not believe there is a loyalty discount for being a member for X years or whatever.
