Father who's 90 complained his phone was dead, checked ,yes dead. Rang Bt got a diagnostic bot. Checked all is well. No fault found , I replied still no phone , an engineer is assigned for next 48 hrs.
In the mean time I went to have a look and was astonished to see openreach just down road , with a pole out ground, cable disconnected laid on rode . Asked ehy they hadn't let old fella know.
Produced paper work with 2 of the 3 houses supplied by said pole but not old man.

So tried to cancel engineer but diagnostic bot couldn't cope with that. Ended up ringing cancel account line. They couldn't cope either , the woman or the guy she passed me to just wanted to check the line.
Engineer rolled up next day to fix the fault.
Complete bunch of clowns .

They now sub contract out so much work that one crew go out and fix an individual problem, and create another.

We had a BT engineer here the other day because our broadband speed had halved, BT (Openreach) had been working near us the day before.

The engineer from BT/ Openreach/Contractor who came to us said it happens all the time that they are continuously following up on problems created by previous repairs in the area.

BT are as inept as the Post office.

Turned up here last year to replace pole as apparently it wasnt high enough, they replaced pole and left, few hours later we realised we had no phone or broadband, phoned our provider who said it would take up to two weeks to get them out to fix it. Got a mate whos not afraid of hights ( I am ) to climb the pole and drop the wires to find they hadn't connected the wires in the junction box correctly. Totally incompetent and to make it worse they couldn't care less.

We had a problem with crackly phone line and poor internet. Openreach man came out and found water in a junction box down the lane, common problem. The next time it happened BT said it would take a week to get somebody out, no problem I said, I would get my drill and ladders out and drill a hole in the box to let the water out.......Openreach man was round that afternoon.

They're hopeless .
Our Internet used to connect and disconnect constantly BT ran their checks and there was no problem so I got fed up and changed supplier after months of issues to plusnet who are part of bt they did checks on day 4 and said you'll not have been switching your router off and on 40 times in a day . They got a engineer out issue solved.

We had a family meeting just a short time back and seeing as Starlink was offering their gear for what looked like a very reasonable price and instant access to the satellite system, I dipped my toe in.

The family chip in a few £’s and I still pay what I was originally paying to BT.
The end result is that we now have superb internet and this means my children can visit whilst ‘working-from-home’ which is fantastic😁

BT is a complete waste of space and I’m so glad I have removed them from my life👍
The call to cancel any and all dealings with BT was very satisfying.
The list of their ineptitude is so long and yes I have been up the pole outside re-connecting the wires after three failed visits. 😡 Not forgetting the endless faults between the exchange and my wall socket.

A few years ago before we had fiber to premises. I was online one afternoon, and all of a sudden the internet stopped working, checked the phone and no dial tone either. We were getting so much trouble with the line at the time I got to know a few of the staff at the Scottish call center by first name. Anyway booked in for a repair. I went out to go around the stock and there was an Openreach van parked in one of my gateways. So had a quick chat with him. Next door had been having problems with their line, and he couldn't sort it, so he used a couple of spare lines in the wire to fix their line. Yes you guessed right ! The twonk used our line to repair next doors !!! Took three weeks to sort it out as they had to run a new line as there were no spare wires to fix ours. To say I was livid was an understatement !!!

A few years ago I was working on a farm putting a drain in and dug through the phone line. The farmer forgot to tell me it was there. So we phoned them up to report the problem and they said they would send someone out next day. Sure enough a BT guy turned up, we showed him the location and he looked up and said, "Oh I can't fix this, I'm internals only". Well we did say I had dug through it with a 5T Takeuchi digger. Did they really think I had it in the house😆

Same here. Ditched the Landline as although the Independent provider was pretty good, we were both in the hands of Openreach and the penny pinching Managers who refused to upgrade the broken and battered ancient copper lines. Because, " you are due for FTTP in the near future".... Believe it when I see it.

Starlink now, and VoIP from next week, as mobile signal is so bad here.

We have 4G on the mobile most of the time but living under wriggly tin and two sheets of aluminium foil messes up the signal, particularly upstairs. So we have a preferred spot in our porch where calls can be held without interference.

There was an old caravan in the top yard, this caravan had a 9" hollow "pill box" next to it with a consumer unit and meter for the electrics. After the Caravan was gone, I had a fellow with an excavator levelling the yard. I phoned Western Power to say I wanted the electricity disconnected from the consumer unit as I wanted to remove it. They told me on the phone it was disconnected. I went off to work, and had a phone call from the digger driver, saying he had knocked over the pill box, and there were sparks flying everywhere! They then sent out engineers pretty damn quickly to disconnect it.

For some reason there was a line down, and laying on top of the hedge. I reported it to BT. They weren't interested, so it just stayed there, until the hedge cutter man wound it round his flail.
BT took a pole away and similarly left the line on top of the hedge. This was repaired after waiting ten days. The cable was then thrown in the ditch where it was destroyed again😡😡😡
BT never replaced the pole, they took up the slack in a 75mm x 400mm joiner sausage.

Guess which 'wire' won't survive the next subsoiling session.

We worry for those that it's going to effect most that are currently not on any internet or broadband or have any mobiles or mobile network service in their area.😡
