Add in the effect of 4% interest rate rise, new leccy contracts, lower milk price and the current year might not be a pretty sightyeah - and that's not up to date - but how many farms do they run now?
It suggests he's overseeing the herd in question.A look at Charlie Crottys LinkedIn suggests he is not a stockman.
the optimist in me thinks things like this is the reason why smaller family/owner run units will be the only way to produce milk soon.I think this thread is a reminder that you are only as good as your weakest members of staff but the buck always falls on you.

Word is, that is what has happened. It would be acceptable to a milk buyer to shoot those calves in the video if a vet gave their say so. It's a welfare issue, the state of them, not forgetting the evident risk of a publicity problem. You would also have to prove a good plan not to let it happen again.

And the milk figures dont stack upThere’s an article in cow management mag and in the picture the cows look sh#t up, but the write up makes it sound good.
Surely we don't want farmers like them in our membership, it makes a mockery of the ridiculous hoops the rest of us are jumping through. Kick em out!Sad truth is these cattle cattle have all been slaughtered just to save his Arla contract. Too much at stake if he were to lose the contract on his multiple units. So unnecessarily slaughtered in the name of ‘brand protection’.
That’s the problem with Arla. How many farmers actually get expelled for arlagarden failure? Probably less than 5 a year. Too many chances given to these animal abusers who continually do the minimum or cull animals to pass audits. Yet the good famers in the majority get hassled for trivial non compliances on audits. Wake up and smell the coffee. If you’re not serious about brand protection then leave the rest of us alone.
There’s a habit of employing “kids” who then work themselves up the ladder ,I can’t believe there’s not one member of staff on the farm that would go out of their way to put some feed out for them
Surely it's all down to leadership to set the toneThere’s a habit of employing “kids” who then work themselves up the ladder ,
Means they can then pay peanuts
It definitely should be, I've worked for farm's who care more about thier image than their stock and other's who look like tramps but put thier animals first and was glad to work on the latter most of my time.Surely it's all down to leadership to set the tone
Was prepared for a failed test, as 2 of my neighbours have failed since Christmas with a cow each, but was very happy when the last cow ran through the crush and we're clear for another 6 monthsSure is, had to rent farm buildings just to help with over stocking, which is nearly as painful as selling them cheap, really glad the cull has helped us get clear, tb reading tomorrow
