Im a born again christian, theres an odd comment on here that could be took as offensive to me but thats just life. I dont get hung up on anything like that. Theres llenty of christians in the world thats persecuted because of thier faith because others dont agree with it. As jorden peterson said in order to have free speech and an opinion you risk being offensive. So for any1 thats offended at a joke or a bit of crack, grow up

We know, for sure, that Muslims are members. Important posts made about keeping abattoirs going.
Yet there is a constant dribble of homophobic and racist posts.
Often presented as humour, or thinly disguised as political comment.
The vast majority of posters on here will choose to ignore it, because it doesn't offend them.
It's the worst excuse in the world, and it doesn't make it alright.
Please explain how either homophobic or racist posts - assuming there are any - can refer to Muslims?

Islam is a religion, not a race nor a sexuality; it is, like every other religion, based on faith in claims that cannot be demonstrated to be true. It is also a religion that demands homosexuals be murdered... odd bedfellows for you to choose.

Just so we know where you're coming from, you aren't an oxymoronic 'gay Muslim' are you?

Red Fred thanks for some "common sense", our forefathers fought and died so we here in the UK could live in a free society, what i mean as free is free speech, free to worship what ever, free to dress/wear what ever you like? Many countires have little or none of this and more that i havnt mentioned? In fact now the taliban have taken control over afganistan, most if not all the freedoms many there had, women as an example have gone and barbaric in the wests eyes been imposed such as stoning women for one? So please dont try telling me we are not "allowed " to have different views/opinions or be able to criticise other faiths or religions thats demorcracy?

Nor will it "save the planet".
It’s not going to save the planet and it’s probably not natural but not every vegan thinks it will save the world. They all get lumped in together as nutters on here though.
Just like the public (whoever they are) get treated as arseholes by the majority on here.
Free speech and the freedom to do what you want only seems to be ok as long as you say and want what the majority think or want.
You get accused of being woke or destroying the way things used to/should be if you disagree.

Every vegan I've had the misfortune to meet seems to think so, and will wear you down with their sanctimonious arrogance while totally refusing to even consider any counterpoint.

"Vegetarians" though are a different thing all together, entirely reasonable.

Again, in my own experience, others experiences may differ!

Personally I find the liberal approach to forum policing is useful. Just like in real life, if someone says something that I think is off or objectionable it lodges in the mind as ‘take that person less seriously in future’.
Free speech is brilliant- say what you like think then it informs other people’s opinion of you.
Likewise, if someone posts something you find offensive, there’s nothing wrong with politely disagreeing with it.

The last thing any forum like this needs is a lengthy set of rules that gets enforced. Inevitably you end up having to take sides and end up embroiled in controversy

To tie it to a separate discussion: I am incredulous that so many on here are so ready to take offence on behalf of a chap who welcomes criticism and is quite capable of looking after himself, yet take no offence at 'casual' racism and homophobia. It's not a good look for the industry.
Is the view good from up on your high horse?

This industry has overwhelmingly conservative/traditionalist views, don't you come on like we are baddies because you're willing to be trod on by any and all groups who shout blue murder.

Eejit.

I think the problem with veganism is that it relies for its growth on the continual attacks on our livelihoods, way of life and communities, and it is obvious that much of it is promoted by business interests. It is similar to the situation 25 years ago with organic farming and the Soil Association, although this has much more clout behind it. I have two ex-girlfriends who were veggies and it wasn't an issue, we are still friends when we meet in town, so I feel comments on veganism as a concept or industry are quite justified whereas simply attacking someone who is vegan on a personal level is not. Protesters at a livestock market, for instance, are also fair game since they are deliberately after attention and are disrupting peoples' lives and jobs.

Dislike of Islam is not racist, any more than dislike of evangelical Christians, Catholics, or Buddhists. Or indeed extreme political ideologies such as socialism or Nazism. Religions are ideas, and thus should (in a free society) be fair game for any and every amounts of abuse. If you want believe in sky fairies who tell you what to do, expect rational people to abuse your idiotic notions. The alternative is a theocracy, where religion (usually one only) cannot be abused, and they throw gay people off tall buildings and behead apostates.

Look many things people dont like? So what do you do? Accept it, leave, move to where "similar" ideals are shared or try to change it? There lies the problem here in the UK, recently we have seen a "set" of views opinions that if you dont believe or object to, you are either "cancelled out", lose your job or worse? Universities, here, now, are a prime example, "any one" who has a different view, opinion is ,what, the new term called cancelled out? The very places where grown up debate should take place on different topics opinions and subjects and through "intelligent" debate your opinion, view put forward on all subjects? A very dangerous path, thats getting the "silent majority" awakening?
