Sorry but I just nearly spat coffee all over the place, never in my wildest imagination did I ever think I'd see a member of TFF asking how many KKK meetings someone had been to. I know this reflects my mental age of about 6.5 but that really tickled me for no reason I can fathom. :X3:
This is our local post office... I mean... the postmaster might not be the local grand dragon, but

We know, for sure, that Muslims are members. Important posts made about keeping abattoirs going.
Yet there is a constant dribble of homophobic and racist posts.
Often presented as humour, or thinly disguised as political comment.
The vast majority of posters on here will choose to ignore it, because it doesn't offend them.
It's the worst excuse in the world, and it doesn't make it alright.

I think the problem with veganism is that it relies for its growth on the continual attacks on our livelihoods, way of life and communities, and it is obvious that much of it is promoted by business interests. It is similar to the situation 25 years ago with organic farming and the Soil Association, although this has much more clout behind it. I have two ex-girlfriends who were veggies and it wasn't an issue, we are still friends when we meet in town, so I feel comments on veganism as a concept or industry are quite justified whereas simply attacking someone who is vegan on a personal level is not. Protesters at a livestock market, for instance, are also fair game since they are deliberately after attention and are disrupting peoples' lives and jobs.
I agree, I have little time for the vegan industry, and you won't find anyone more anti organic farming than me on TFF (although that doesn't go down well) I'm just pointing out that not all vegans are the same. They all get hammered on here though.

No?
You can't go around blaming the victims for the bigotry.
It's nuts.
People don't choose what they are.
I'm terribly confused. I've spent 20 odd years from the 80's to the early noughts being educated that gays don't choose to be gay they are 'born that way', now I've just spent the last 10 being educated that we are born 'a blank slate' and that we can choose even our sex, gender or what we identify as.

Like most minorities today the 'gay' fraternity just love showing the world they are 'different'. You can be 'proud' of the fact your not normal, but it's getting really bloody boring now.
As far as I'm concerned you cannot be proud of something you played no part in and have no choice in.

I cannot be proud of being white or male etc. because it's not an achievement and I contributed nothing towards it.

If people want to be treated equally they have to learn that they don't matter, just like all the other nobodies.

To tie it to a separate discussion: I am incredulous that so many on here are so ready to take offence on behalf of a chap who welcomes criticism and is quite capable of looking after himself, yet take no offence at 'casual' racism and homophobia. It's not a good look for the industry.
Seems an odd thread to be started by someone who spends more time calling other people names than anyone else here, just because they have a different opinion to yours. Such a shame when you evidently have the best interests of ag at heart and a good level of knowledge and experience.

Don't have to tolerate the intolerant.
You don't have to tolerate anything, I asked you a perfectly reasonable and logical follow up question which I'll ask again.

As you consider a "trans woman" to be a woman, do you think they are therefore fully entitled to use woman's rest rooms, changing facilities, woman only safe spaces, etc?
