Ranching + farming news abroad: How far does it get?

Super interesting that's the side of the story you encountered first-- the racial tension is a huge part of the response, no doubt, and on the tip of everyone's tongue and Twitter feed over here. People have reacted in that way, and also mocking the militia guys as Yallqaeda and Yeehaw-dists and...

Ranching + farming news abroad: How far does it get?

That's a great way of putting it--maybe there's something universal about a cow, but it's the money and land tied up around it that get complicated. Probably why people tend to share and like pictures of their stock instead of copies of their receipts and deeds :)

Ranching + farming news abroad: How far does it get?

Do you find that the ideas and issues translate well enough, or are the differences in land and government/business enough that what's true for America or Canada is not always true for the UK?

Ranching + farming news abroad: How far does it get?

Fabulous! Will be sharing this with some friends here in Oregon. When I was in England last summer I had plenty of people asking me about American-ish type things like Donald Trump, so I was very curious if anything about this had peaked above the surface. This link has an article that rings a...

Ranching + farming news abroad: How far does it get?

It's been a while since I've posted (long story) but I'm wondering about the international news cycle and how far abroad some news has gotten. Are any news outlets in the UK picking up the story about the armed men occupying a wildlife refuge in Oregon to protest federal control of land they...

    Attacked by a cow.

Seeing as my singing is most generally (and generously) described as "noise, lots of it" maybe I'm in good shape :sneaky:

    Attacked by a cow.

Friendly inquiry, having perused all 12 pages of this: best practices for anyone on these paths include common sense to avoid unpredictable livestock where possible, carry a stick (?), and be ready to run. So, how effective is the nose-tapping with a stick? And how likely is it that a cow can...

    80 yowes, 1 tup

Of all the threads I read here that aren't any specialty of mine, sheep issues have to be the most reliably entertaining.:ROFLMAO::LOL:

Wanted: Dairy Farmers close to M25

I've been searching "_______ near (town name)" a lot lately looking for different things on Google Maps (maps.google.com). "Dairies near London," and then zoom out to find your arc of the M25 north, and you'll see quite a few little red dots that often link to websites, emails, and phone...

American Teenager First Time Farming In Wales

@SwissJellybean I missed a few of your posts and haven't been able to catch up as I've been sick, but it has been an absolute treat to read all of this. Partly because I'm jealous because you had the benefit of visiting a real working farm over there and many many people (like myself) are only...

    what grinds your gears

Ooh ooh. Kidney stones! Grit to grind your gears for sure. (Though at 553 pages I'm sure someone's mentioned them before)

    A50 blocked in protest!

Coming off of a legal strike where I was involved with a hefty social media campaign and a lot of picketing, I know the balance between direct action and public sympathy/momentum can be a tricky one to manage. What are the social media bits that are already out there (like #grasstomilk on...

    Today at work

Not at work myself, per se, but thought with your love of pictures some of you might enjoy a glimpse of the very dry Oregon harvest we're having. I have a few others, all taken from the passenger side of a car going at top speed, but I haven't tried posting images here on the forum before. May...
