    Silage Additive

I'm not sure I'm asking this in the right forum (please advise if I should be on another page!). Does anyone know if the additive Safeguard 5 (Lactobacillus additive) can make silage wet and heavy or if it reacts with salt etc (from dairy waste) please? The silage was picked up on a perfect day...

My god, we're going to have to fill a form in to leave the house soon!!

    Scottish Water Compliance

I could understand it if water going up a hosepipe was a regular occurence but surely if the tap is turned off it couldn't happen (correct me if I'm wrong!)

    Scottish Water Compliance

He was a total jobsworth! Apparently you can have a hosepipe and no valve attached to a domestic house and that isn't a problem! He was the sort to do a spot check when he's passing :X3:

    Scottish Water Compliance

We've had a Compliance Officer visit from Scottish Water this week and he has left us with a long list of issues that he would like rectified. Most of them relate to the tiny possibility that water will get sucked up the hosepipe/trough inlet pipe and contaminated water will get into the mains...

    Solar Power Expectations

Thanks very much for taking the time to explain this to me. We are just trying to work out if it is worth putting 100kw of solar on our shed roof as we have a 100kw grid connection from an AD plant that did not do what it said on the packet!! We are not high energy users. At 20p per kw the...

    Solar Power Expectations

Very interesting, thank you. Maybe the manufacturers should change how they label kw's produced by solar panels as they virtually never produce anywhere near the kw per hour that they advertise them at and more often than not it is a LOT less!! Thanks again

    Solar Power Expectations

Thanks very much for your reply. Am I right in thinking then that 1kw of installed solar will produce on average 3kw of power per day (obviously a lot more in summer than winter)? TIA

    Solar Power Expectations

Thanks for your reply Farmer 059, so an average of just under 300kw per day. I take it you get a LOT less kw production through the winter months? Is the inverter the same as the G59 connection? Does 15p include your FIT payment and the payment from the grid please?

    Solar Power Expectations

Thank god for that, sorry for misunderstanding you but I've got it now! You wouldn't happen to have the total amount of electric produced before you use any by any chance please? We don't use a great deal of electricity on the farm but have a 100kw grid connection so think the maths will add...

    Solar Power Expectations

Thanks Fogg. Quick question please ....... have I misunderstood what a '100kw system' means, is it 100 kw per hour or per day? I have noticed that obviously your summer generation is approx 4 x 50kw per day but your winter is only roughly 50kw. Also what is the current market rate just now as...

    Solar Power Expectations

Can anyone please tell me what percentage efficiency you get from new solar panels in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. I understand it's not an exact answer! If you had 100kw of panels how many kw would you expect to make per hour on average each month/season. TIA
