Michael Gove and the Conservatives did this.

that wasn't the problem.... the problem was that it survives in the soil for a long time so gets taken up by other plants (weeds, field edges, following crops etc) and that its water soluble which resulted in it appearing in water courses and other places, essentially pollution. But as with...

Michael Gove and the Conservatives did this.

I do feel there needs to be post neo-nic research... If the ban hasn't achieved the aims it could be making the problem worse. Often hear bee keepers preferred OSR as it was. Im happy to live in a world without neo-nic dressings and my gut feeling its right not to be using them. But if the...

    Help a man out

There is something in this.... A neighbour recently reversed his pickup and knocked his father over. Luckily he was ok but I'm always more cautious reversing at the farm now!

    Weaving gd drill

I made these for my GD a few years back and Weaving came and took loads of pictures. Then launched there own stone guards. One broke off recently and it wasn't long before that disc stopped. Just shows they work well!

    Horsch Avatar

Something to be said for horsch kit is that it really does hold its value well (at the moment at least) along with fendt tractors. However farming doesn't really stack up buying a 4m drill at £70k with margins where they are... and that's a 5yr old bit of kit!

This 5yr old drill which is 4m wide is £70k. What on earth did it cost new? Has it lost nothing in depreciation? https://eastern.claas-dealer.co.uk/used-machinery/horsch-avatar-4-16-sd-hs-21331357-a-01

    Arable record keeping

I'm impressed to see that field margin now has a pesticide check too, similar to sentinel active. Going to be a good competitor to Omnia going forward I think.

    Arable record keeping

Sorry Camilla, I've just noticed you have added some good functionality since I last tried recs in field margin. I suppose GK and Omnia have (will have) sentinel which adds a lot for recs but not necessary for everyone. Keep up the good work!

Where can you buy a GPS steering system for: FETF47 - Assisted steer system (retro fitted for older tractors) Expected average cost of item (£): 1,911

    Arable record keeping

I will be switching to Omnia in the next year or so... Recs and compatibility has kept me with gatekeeper until now but Omnia is looking slick with the upgrades due soon. Fieldmargin is good for a lot but not for recs.

Advice for Son Before Returning Home to Farm

Do something non farming before returning. Doesn't matter what you do or how long. You won't believe what you'll gain from working outside the ag industry and what it'll bring to your outlook.

We use a system that balances across the 3 phases which works well. The only alternative was to buy 3 batteries which is fine but not good if you have a large demand (grain store) on one phase as the other batteries can't help.

    Longevity of autumn residuals

I asked Gowan recently about the persistence of avadex... they told me they test avadex by planting oats and monitor the effects which can be seen up to a year!

    Weaving gd drill

we've used our GD again this year despite a plan to sell it. It certain situations its tremendous. Had some bindweed in a no-till situation that the GD had no issues with at all and then the recent frosts it proved the perfect drill again.
