    First time Direct Drilling Grass

Nice to see the grass starting to emerge after being a bit twitchy with it being so dry.

Farm bike - do you have one?

We're not far away from the economics making sense to switch. If the products are improved a little and the price doesn't keep going up, it won't be more than a couple of years

Farm bike - do you have one?

In that situation, then yes, and I'd probably be tempted just like you. That CRF300 is nice, but wasted on a farm. A better comparison is a 250 bimble about off roader (not that many made these days maybe crf l or a kawasaki similar, but heavy) or a 125. The 125's sip petrol so for around half...

Farm bike - do you have one?

Had one on demo while quad was in. Liked the way you could zip around on it and quickly got the feel for it. But on rougher, steeper tracks the front wheel would skip and bounce all over the shop when climbing. Would be better in my view if the drive bias was rear wheel, would feel more...

    Farming without bagged Fertiliser

Can't say that they named the make of it. But the info was very interesting - the efficiency was significantly better than granular so assuming logistics can be sorted I'd be very keen to learn more.

    Farming without bagged Fertiliser

Ah, ok. Does a normal sprayer work well - specific nozzles? There was a mention of a specific sprayer from NZ if I recall correctly, maybe not with the three farms but a contractor had bought one.

    Farming without bagged Fertiliser

Listened to the podcast only a couple of weeks ago, looking forward to the data you're looking for this year. Who stocks it?

    All things Dairy

Indeed! We're earlier this year anyway so will be difficult to say. But based on some simple maths, I think the difference in calf price is more than the lost 5 days anyway (Am I allowed to say that as a spring calver?!). It's just the cumulative 5 days over say 5 years and how many cows lost...

    All things Dairy

On the issue of BB semen on crossbreed, we used Gaberal last year and calved with very few difficulties. Understand he doesn't throw the shapiest of calves but they were a god compromise and worth more than anything else. All on 2nd calves. Probably a bit of work with a calculator to see if...

    All things Dairy

Putting slurry out on grazing and silage ground atm. Last round of fertiliser as soon as there's guaranteed rain. Got a direct drilled field that desperately needs rain and fert too.

I'll take a steady 6 days then! Update: no longer spitting 😔🤣

You've probably answered this many times before but can I ask what parlour you've got with that number of cows?

    All things Dairy

Anyone had any fert deliveries recently? Who's competitive (all relative of course!)? Looking for TSP, 161616 and 24 0 14 +7S Thanks
