With the cost off electric rising has anyone considered running the farm on a diesel generator? We have 2 robots in and our electric bill is through the roof. Was considered buying a engine generator and running it during the day even and using economy 7 at night. Thoughts?
Dropped 1st cut here today. Happy enough with the crop tbh. Only got slurry and 1 bag off fertilizer. Get abit off slurry on and rain next week it should take off again.
Does anyone do their silage ground with a spring tine harrow routinely? There's bit off slurry crust still about from the dribble bar and was thinking it would break the crust up abit. Would it be any good or just a waste off time and diesel?
Hi all
I'm just interested to know how other robot farms bed up their cubicles? By hand? With a machine? Every day? Twice a day? Or every few days?
We are currently bedding up twice a day using a hand scraper to clean down the beds and applying sawdust/lime mix by hand. We have rope scrapers...
When would be the latest time clover could be stitched into a silage sward? We have just sprayed silage land to kill docs and we are are waiting to get a 5th cut off it the next dry spell so would it be to late to go in after that and stitch in?
There is a small paddock higher than the lane that has the septic tank etc for the dwelling house. I really don't want to start to move it. Yea it's just an extra feed area and loafing area.
I was thinking I could step the feed barrier back in 2 feet, let the silage out along the lane and push it in under the tin with a wheel pusher. Anyone doing that?
