    Telehandler weighing system

I am doing exactly what you are looking at. Mixer / auger bucket and RDS weigher. Weigher was transferred to a new JCB last year. It will work well if you want it to - you need to lift at a constant speed and not crowd at the same time.

Garmin Instinct 2 and farm work

Worn 1 for last 3 years - no bother standing up to knocks. Charge it every 2 to 3 weeks. Doesnt have the features of a fancier one but ideal for a no nonsense rugged smart watch.

    Collings Bros gone

Can't see the need for so many brands from the major parent companies. There are not enough buyers / support staff / development budget to maintain them. Think in 20 years time there will be 4 or 5 tractor brands. This is still more than many sector of agricultural supply.

Help! Househam Sprayer's Iveco Engine Sporadically Down on Power???

Had similar, really down on power. Tank off all fuel lines checked. Eventually took the intercooler pipe off turbo and there was a lot of play in it. New turbo sorted it although it was challenging getting one.

    Family partnership - trapped!

I don't want to add to the presssure.....but! What is the position of the tenancy? Your security (or lack of) tenure is the most important factor in the future of the business. I realise that there are always cash requirements, however if your house and livelihood is dependant on your Father's...

Red Tractor review ? How ?

100% agree, if the members are not behind it there is not a future. The only way out is to demonstrate a reliable premium proptionate to the hastle - personally I dont think it exists as the consumer buys on price.

Red Tractor review ? How ?

All Scottish Beef and lamb is WLA. There was a legal challenge maybe 15 years ago by a scottish farmer who said that 90 days residency did not make it Scottish. I agree with that. The problem is that RT beef and lamb does not command a premium and would appear not to restrict markets so the...

Red Tractor review ? How ?

So a non assured bred and reared animal can be fed by product from non assured grain and become assured by living for 90 days on an assured farm. Don't see how this passes an audit pathway. My preferred option is to have a standard that producers are proud of and shows a premium.

Red Tractor review ? How ?

All the by products from ensus / vivergo oilseed crushes are fed to livestock. Laundering scheme, livestock comes out assured. BTW dont see why the English red meat industry doesn't insist on whole life assurance

    Digital Combinable Crop passports

Last summer at a SNFU meeting on farm the question was put to the audience and the show of hands was almost unanimously against digital passports. There was probably in excess of 100,000t represented. I thought the message was clear and it should be resisted by NFU scotland.
