Valtra with only Economy PTO

My cousin has recently bought a new but last of the old model Valtra N113.

Says it's hopeless as only has 1000 or 540 economy pto and no standard 540 Pto on it.
He's near in tears about it. Has nothing that works at 1000rpm and bought it thinking the economy speed was in addition to standard 540 his old tractor had rather than instead of it and saying it will be next to useless for heavier work like mowing and baling and engine speed at 540 Eco too low on his hilly land for turner, rake, topper, fert spreader and sprayer to work well on.

Told him not to be so silly and that there must be a standard 540 setting on it but he swears it's economy only. Could it be? Never heard of a tractor only having and economy pto setting before.

The N91 I had would hit 540rpm at low engine revs, something like 1700 or 1800rpm. the power is supposed to peak at those revs on that sisu engine. but always needed opened up to near flat to get any performance. It was one thing I didn't like about the tractor..

I tried an n143 to go on the feeder but it was hopeless, couldn't get the feeder started again once it was full so ended up dropping it off and putting the Massey back on it. It was so high geared in standard 540, it was nearly like an eco speed. No good for high torque start ups.

The nxx3 valtra s will only have a 2 speed pto so it could have been spec'd with 540e /1000

Think your on to it, either 540/1000 or 540e/1000, so it will depend on how the original owner or dealer spec'd it....

looking at spec if it was in 540 E motor 1540rpm in standard 540 ..motor 1870rpm
see what the motors doing compared with these

Sounds from what you guys are saying he's right about only have 540 Eco then:eek:
Not going to be much use to him when he's nothing that runs on 1000 shaft and 540 pto speed is only achievable at 1540rpm.

It was a dealers stock tractor but third new one he'll have had from them each time replacing previous Valtra. Would have thought dealer might have said it would be no good for his needs before selling him it:rolleyes:

Would have thought the salesman would have pointed out that it was only 540e/1000 with only two speed PTO and or suggested he be better off with 540/1000.

stick it in 540 and run it up to 540 then note motor revs if low it's a eco if higher it's standard

Its weird how its only got eco speeds can he not get dealer to swap some cogs say its not good enough?

He's had it since February and only just noticed!
If it is the case that it's Eco only then think your suggestion might be his best option.
Unlikely to just be a case of swapping cogs these days though is it?

Indeed.
Especially as the two previous ones he bought from them were standard 1000/540 ones. They were bound to have known it wouldn't be suitable for the work he needed to do with it.
Thought he was getting 540 Eco in addition to 540 not instead of.

sounds dumb but were is the 540 toward the steering wheel or to the back
i think yer will find standard 540 is forward and 1000 toward the rear on the lever
where if 1000 forward then the rear will be 540e the sticker will also say 540e

What about the fert spreader and sprayer?
10kph and above engine is going to die at 1540rpm when it sees a hill coming;)

It should easily maintain 1600rpm on a fertilizer spreader, rake, tedder or mower or there's something wrong with it, modern engines have the torque curve much lower. Dyno will labour them down to around 1200 but they don't die

I don't know anything about Valtras but I expect it will be as simple as replacing 2 gears, the dealer will help him out
