Got a price for around 2 tonnes of new steel, mostly 203x102 H beams for a small lean to shed. Was getting charged £570 a tonne for 12m lengths. Is this a reasonable price? Only have an account with one steel stockholder and only buy still around once a year so not a big customer.

Not sure what it's at now,bought a fair bit last month and it was £500ish,sticker on it said made in Brazil.

prices all over the place at the moment stockholders are using the situation as a lever to pull prices up ,it all started with news of the Tata plant closing in south wales ,scrap also on the way up and that will prop the new price £700 per ton on the horizon

don't think that sounds to bad for one off orders and delivered i guess you could be a fair distance from the depot

Yes,last years were Tata.

Looking at around the £580 mark from the Stockholder but this is likely to increase again imminently.

Most companies will probably add a small buffer on your quote to cover any potential unexpected rise.

Steel prices across the board have risen, but was on the cards before brexit.
