Theft of solar panels

A local farmer has lost 200 solar panels from his fairly newly installed system on Friday night - I just wondered how common this sort of crime is and the likely replacement costs?

I've only heard about one ground mount of 200 panels being stolen a year or two ago. It's quite rare. You're looking at up to £20k plus install. You should have a record of the serial numbers to pass onto the insurers. I don't think they'll pay out if you don't provide this, I may be wrong.

The serial numbers on mine are mainly stickers which would just peel off

You should have had a copy presented with the handover pack. With the amount of cowboys that entered the industry I highly doubt you have this. When the panels are delivered in boxes there should have been a list of serial numbers on an A4 sheet which in turn would have been returned to the office and transferred onto a log for office records and clients handover. This is the correct format for a solar business.

Yes i am certain that somewhere we have the duplicates for all ours .
What i meant was that the serial numbers were only stuck on so easily removed to prevent identification
