Vegan fivers

I've no doubt that someone will correct me if I am wrong , (or even a bit pedantic ) But I always thought that tallow was sheep fat , beef fat , suet , and pork fat, lard . So why the cow worshippers are on about this I don't know . I can see how the people who think pigs are "unclean" would be against lard . I think it should all be in the WTF thread really !
they're about all animals , not just cattle, although they have nothing to say about religious slaughter

From what i'm hearing, the BOE is actually listening to them about this, if they're willing to do anything about it, setting a scary precedent for what might come next if they pressurise people in to change.

It all depends on who you believe, and to a certain extent where you live. Tallow is derived from suet, or should be, and for all practical purposes can come from any animal. In the US tallow tends to mean fat rendered only from cattle.

Thinking about this today, if 120,000 people petition the BOE to change the manufacture of a fiver, could several million people get the same bank to give them a decent interest rate on their savings?

Edit I suppose a tofu burger can hardly be called a meal though can it:scratchhead::scratchhead:

I had tofu a few weeks ago. It was our first night out for more than two years. Dinner at somebody's nearby, who we knew is allergic to all animal, fish and seafood products. Nice lady and definitely not one of your usual vegan types. Quite happy that everybody else eats meat, feeds it to her dogs and cats, and also happy to have me spray her olive trees, so apart from being allergic to meat, quite normal.

Anyway, there were others at the table who may or may not have been vegetarian, and the main course was a stew. Separate serving dishes for my wife and myself and everyone else. I could not decide whether the meat was a very chewy cut of turkey or pork, and eventually gave up. Turned out to be tofu. Definitely not impressed. Also quite dumbfounded as to why anybody would want to eat what tastes like a poor quality meat of unknown origin. I genuinely believed it was meat from the texture until the hostess told me otherwise.
