Newholland/trimble guidance systems.

Looking to purchase a new guidance system primarily for spreading fertiliser linked up to a kuhn 40.1w. Current favourite is a trimble 750 or the newholland equivalent. Would like to future proof whatever system we buy to be able to use autosteer in the future for drilling barley, mowing and possibly yield mapping with a Claas Tucano combine.

Would the 750 do all of the above or would the extra cost of an fmx be worthwhile?

What are the options for yield mapping on the claas combine? new this year but unfortunately yield mapping wasn't considered at the time of purchase!

We would be running newholland sidewinder tractors so would there be any advantages of specing intellisteer for this work or would a steering wheel motor be adequate? I had assumed that built in autosteer would be the most cost effective on a new tractor but our dealer thinks we would be better off buying an ez pilot when we decide we want to upgrade.

Apologies for all the questions but I'm sure there are plenty on here more knowledgeable on the subject than I am!!

750 will do all of that no bother, yield mapping as well.

What's a sidewinder tractor ?

Sidewinder models have electronic spools and the intelliview screen. Not sure if it would be worthwhile utilising this for guidance but I think a separate 750 screen or similar would give more options for switching between machines.

Your dealer is talking rubbish. Spec cinch the new tractor auto steer ready is much better than ezpilot!
Buy GPS from Trimble not your confused dealer

What is the cost of speccing a tractor autosteer ready compared with an ez-pilot system? I had assumed that when buying a new tractor an integrated system would work out cheaper than retrofit?

It sounds like the 750 will do everything you need and is a good screen for future proofing.

The dealer may have sugested ez-pilot because you could move it and the 750 between the tractor and the combine, not the fastest of jobs but can be done in less than 40 mins, you would have to get a platfourm kit for the combine as so i would check with the dealer if there is one.

The intergrated option is better for high precision especialy in low speed aplications, ez-pilot and other assisted steering systems tipicaly do not work effectivly at speeds less than 3kph this is because they dont have a steering sensor on the axle and therefore have to estimate the direction the viehcle is travling. The higher accuracy at lower speeds is what makes the intergrated option more expensive.

For intergrated as i understand it there are two options the new holland from factory fit with its own screen, or Autopilot; which is the trimble retrofit intergrated guidence for all brands which would work with an 750 but i think its tipicaly more expensive than the factory option.

If its steer ready, most makes of GPS kit will steer in through the valve. I'd recommend Topcon.

Which system did you purchase in the end?
I noticed you mentioned a Kuhn spreader....I guess it's not ISOBUS or is ISOBUS something you did not want to future proof against with your purchase?

simples = if I was you spend a little more and get fmx .bigger screen , easier to use touch screen especially if you have big hands. somebody will correct me if im wrong butif you have problem with 750 have to plug in laptop to correct . fmx most problems can be fixed over the phone. have tractor auto steer ready almost 100% sure its £2500 fitted at factory. butcan buy nh kit from dealer priced at £2600 but if good dealer willget a lot cheaper. add in cost of approx. 11hrs fitting by exsperianced fitter .this is what I have and haven't looked back since.
