You should be able to get the rates FOC if you are careful with the size in terms of sq footage to keep it under £15k ratable value and the company struture, you need the shop to be a business in its own right with no other business property with a rates bill , so your total rateing liabililty is 15k or less .

Was gon a start a small shop from my garage as we are in the rd side of a rural area and my wife is at home with the kids but they will soon be all out at school so we were talking about a rural shop but would it be viable use to be a small shop in the area but all have died out or the people have died out

There's one near us , not a big shop but full of all sorts of produce & animal feeds . Take a look at their website , www.peckfieldfarm.com .

Each to their own but how much will the shop need to earn before you are as well off or better off than going to work per hour for someone else?
These things often look good but are a dull way of earning some money, stuck inside all day, effectively at work but at home.

Couldn't agree more. Speaking as a mother of 2 young children. I feel I need to go out to work 2 days a week for my own sanity. I'd hate to be tied to the house all week in case someone called. Maybe that's just me though haha :)

It's like farmer's saying their working from home-in reality we do .
It's all about motivation and keeping thing's separate .
