OSR growth reg

Our osr is looking good and too forward. Was gonna sling on some teb to cover all bases nicely but have been suggested Caryx.
Used it in the spring on some forward rape but tbh application was probably a little late with the wet spring.
Seems to read well - they all do. Was tempted with just the teb but past osr crop on this land got out of control ended about 7 foot high (stayed standing) but couldn't get a scloratina (spelling) spray or even dessicant and sealant.
It's just over twice the price of straight teb for reduced Autumn 0.7l I think so not a huge cost.
Any thoughts?......
Plenty of cash left in the budget with no pellets used (salesman love me )

Autumn growth hardly ever relates to spring growth. However, if you think your crop is forward and will stay so into spring (no pigeons, no flea beetle larvae, no cold weather) then consider it by all means.

(Oh, and if your crop is already big, it's too late to do any good)

As you might be able to tell, I'm a cynic.

Ok, thanks.
So not really something you have/would recommend?
My thoughts were that going into winter the weather would sort it and to deal with the spring growth next year. Having read around it I was beginning to wonder what kind of effect teb actually has on osr/pgr.
I figure I don't win anything if it all ends up flat or if I can't get the sprayer through the crop in the later stages (nobody had an 18m high clearance sprayer)

I am going through it anyway to take out the few volunteers that are around.

Maybe there'll be pigeons, maybe we will have a cold/early winter??? Who knows

Big is relative. It's certainly forward, surely an application now will slow it up enough into winter??

wait till the spring pigeons hard winter

I know dorset usually has mild winters but you never know and if it is still big in march teb and later n then can solve the problem
be happy you have a rape crop to worry about many crops round hear are going to struggle to be big enough to withstand kerb

Autumn pgr needs to be in September so if it wasn’t big enough for concern then, it isn’t now. You’ve got popular canopy management tools available in the early spring and IMO that would be a better time to consider what PGR you will need. A long hard winter will do most of the job for you. Sit back, enjoy the view and the knowledge that you’ll lose less soil N to leaching this winter as it will be sequestered in the crop canopy for use later on.

Thanks for the replies.
Gonna try a can of Caryx and the rest teb. Live and learn. At the least it will act as a protectent for phoma. Chuck that on in the next few days  and hopefully gate shut til spring on most of it.

World on max 3 degree tilt so this is effectively September. we will see growth like previous recent years right through till end Oct Mid Nov depending on your latitude but like recent years even excluding an east beast don't expect an early spring.

Caryx went on today. Pigeons would have their work cut out with this lot.
