Daft question, but if they forage around an orchard all day do they need much extra food?
We've kept hens for a while and increasingly when replacements are needed wife researches breeds that are good foragers.

Other than rotovating some ground over for worms and bugs and only when the fruit drops they live on wheat, pellets and green leef waste from a farm shop, summer time I throw the lawn cuttings in,, they are healthy and lay well
