Smallest calf for home kill worthwhile?

Well today was a bad day. Shut the calf creep gates and one of my very best charolais bullocks got its front legs up on the wall and sliped a leg into gap between wall and gate above hinge. Broken leg burst skin so put down. He was april born and would be 470kg but store type, not too fat. Its obviously too late but would he be worth butchering or what? Its something ive never done but know a man that would for £200 + chiller fees.

6"x 2" flat plate welded on top of all gates a must now!

We had a 275kg Jersey steer break its legs as it jumped a cattle grid we butchered that and it ate really well. by rights only partners in the business are allowed to eat it. Sent skin, bones and tag on fallen stock. Real shame you couldn't have made something of it.

If its not on any withholds and otherwise healthy you can kill it we had a dissaster with a nearly speaned calf one year would only be about 250/300kg killed and butchered it was some of the best beef ive ever had with somthing like a leg brake the key is to kill it quick and maybe discard the broken leg so it dosnt effect the rest of the meat with adrenaline.
