Mid tier scheme

The above scheme has got my head going round in circles again! First year of scheme, low input cereals(AB14). Can either do spring cereals planted between February and April this year or in autumn between October and December. The question is does it mean autumn 2018 or 2019 for a 2019 first year claim?

Can plant crop in autumn before the scheme starts
Then treat it as low imput for the following harvest
Or plant spring crop once the scheme is accepted
I did this for a 1 jan 2018 start and they needed to Know where the low imput cereal was in the claim put in in May 2018
For cover crops and over winter stubble the area needs putting in in the autumn after the start autumn 2018.

But first check with natural England /Rpa or your agent who will do it for you

My “start date 1st Jan 2018” scheme wasn’t even signed by NE until the August and seeing how the payment situation is going I’d say go later rather than earlier with any date choices, you’ll be bankrolling the scheme for less time!

Thanks for your replies. I eventually found the answer in section 3 on page 5 of the claim form where it refers to the location of rotational options as being for the current cropping year which starts the previous autumn and ends in the year of the claim. The exception being over winter stubble which starts in the year of the claim and ends the following spring.
