Evening Andrew, had the 4220 out working for a few days now and what a bit of kit, really pleased with it. As you seem the
man in the know with these, I wanted to pick your brains about ballast. We are running it on a 3t fert spreader without any front weight, the tractor seems to handle it fine as the suspension just levels itself off but I’m not sure if would be better balanced with a front weight, taking a bit of load off the rear axle. What do you think?

We always run with a front weight. Simple test - set all the tyres to the same pressure, and see which tyres squash more. Then put weight on and see of it helps.

With a dale drill and front weight we have 3.1t per tyre front and 3.15t per tyre rear, I would guess with fert spreader you’d be similar.

That’s what I was thinking, even though the tractor levels itself off the axle weights would remain the same, with most the weight being in the back axle at the moment. Think I will look at getting a 900kg front weight.
