Neporex

We have always sprayed Neporex down through the slats of our free range chicken houses, but still get plenty of Flys. What’s your views on whether it is worth doing as it is expensive and time consuming applying it.

You can sprinkle them down through the slats
which is much quicker , there will be enough moisture in the manure to activate them , also there is a brand called "maggots" which is the same stuff as neporex but cheeper

I've used parasitic wasps on our 32k flat deck system now, and have done for a few years. I Would never go back to neporex/maggots type product.
They come in the post monthly from St Davids Poultry Vets, and it take 5-10 minutes each month to top them up. as for cost, it's a little bit more than neporex, but the extra time saved in not having to spray under the slats, disturbance to the birds, and keeping the litter below as dry as possible is worth it in my opinion.
Speak to st davids vets if you're interested, they will talk you through your options.

Will look into that. Thank you

Ordered them, they are coming next week. Sound like a really good solution, so thanks again
no worries, hope they do the trick for you. I would recommend painting some cardboard with TwentyOne and hanging them under the nest boxes. Just to make sure you hit them from all angles. (TwentyOne isn't costly or time consuming to put on, just make sure you mix it outside as if you mix it in your sink or on table etc you will get dead flies for days no matter how good you wash it)
