Not all of them, maybe have a look at my post on this thread
But they are still being reared though, whether they are going as sucklers or as stores.

I was trying to say that I don't know where this increase of dairy bred calves would come from as (correct me if I'm wrong) the dairymen would not be keeping the beef calves off the market in the past.

There maybe an increase in kiwi/Jersey bull calves in the mart with this new rule. This could help the trade on the beef calves/stores.

Another thought is with the new rules the dairy boys are going to use more sexed semen which could put a shortage in the calf sector?

When they going to let vendors start watching their stock sold? Completely farcical that they won’t let a dozen farmers into a cattle mart when half the country is either rioting or shopping till they drop
South Molton market are allowing vendors in now, subject to social distancing. So it is possible. I guess it will depend on individual market set up.
South Molton sell in a ring with a decent sized area for onlookers. Sedgemoor sell in the pens (sheep) so harder to social distance?

I think the estimated 100k to 200k bull calves which that refers to will have an effect on the price. Need semen use is nearly sure to increase in my mind.

You could watch your store cattle sold in Bakewell on Monday but I didn't see anyone do it
Don't think many people knew about it this week to be fair. First I knew was reading it on the market report.

They've set up viewing areas in the store and fat ring, guessing around the stores it will be the bit across the top of the rostrum maybe? And in the sheep you can be there as long as you aren't stood in the alleyway that they are selling on.

Yeah 100,000 of them!

This is my opinion, but I think they will have more of an effect on the barren cow price than the utm price. What is worrying me slightly is the predicted unemployment rate is going to be,but that will have an effect on the whole agri sector.

Has any one tried to finish kiwi bull calves before? We tried a couple of years ago as there are a few spring calving herds around here. The calves were next to nothing to buy, drank the same amount of powder as the tidy beef calves, eat as much as them but weighed half as much. They got ripped to shreds on the grid and we wished we never seen them.

Again just my opinion.

Yes you go in the doors near the sheep boot wash and up the stairs it's all taped off.

No - it's a survey done by QMS, so looking specifically for the Scotch logo. It could be that the beef is from up here but non-FA or from south of Hadrian's wall, or indeed Scottish FA but that the assurance got messed by being killed or cut in southern factories (does/ can that happen?).
So Aldi only sold scotch beef last year?
