Calf trade still not getting brexit jitters! 😂

Barren cows (30)
Numbers, slowly but surely, on the rise for the fortnightly cull cow sale. Cows average 106ppk throughout with a top price of £1150 (164ppk)

Calves (340)
With a couple less buyers at ringside this week the trade was stronger than ever. One purchaser commented that “11 calves this week cost the same as 16 last week”. Top price of the day was £445 for two British Blue bull calves from Davies & Daughters, Coombe Farm. Heifer calves were topped at £355 with another Blue from Coombe Farm, a Limousin heifer from Evans, Cilgwyn Uchaf, and another Blue heifer from Gibbon, Y Garreg. Friesian bull trade also continues in good form averaging £60 and selling to a top of £162 from Jones & Jones, Cefnrhuddlan. Breeds dominating the day would be undoubtedly Blues and Lims with Blue bulls averaging £301 and heifers £246 while the quality of Lims seen came back with averages of £274 and £264 for bull and heifer calves respectively. The Angus Breed Society continue to kindly sponsor the top price Angus sired calf and today’s winner was a bull calf from Thomas, Gelligatrog at £240. Angus bulls averaged £160 while Angus heifers sold to a high of £210 and averaged £121.

Whitland lamb trade keeping up with national trends averaging 208ppk with top prices of 248ppk and £113.50/head. Mediums and heavies together averaged £90.50 while lighter lambs up to 39kg averaged £75/head.

Culls (120)
More ewes met a strong trade with top price of £109 and an average of £75 for meated ewes.

Was at the cally again today, stores would be as dear as lv ever seen them, had over 40 registered buyers and some great prices across the board, l nearly need a boat to gather them this morning after about 8hrs of thunder but it was worth it getn them there, l think l saw noah and his ark in a field near Grangemouth.

excellent trade at skipton again today with stores, very happy again, took 110 average £74 and they were lighter than last time,

nice when your happy with trade and you feel they make what they are worth :D
They are saving some ewe grass going at this time too. People selling stores in October always confuses me. They have already made a massive dent in the ewe grazing and don’t usually make as much money as now.

Big lambs on fire 🔥 at Monmouth Livestock Centre today, with Charollais lambs to £179 and £150, and others to £127.

Well at this current rate of escalation it won’t be long....if someone has enough weight and shape it’s only a matter of when not if
This week was the week, only saw last few bulls but at least 1 made £2150 today
