It seemed the logical thing to do and spreads the weight nicely.
My dad's cousin who was a steel fabricator made up a adaptor for me to marry the 4 mounting points of the hopper to the 3 on the press.

No, we put it on in advance with trailing shoe into the cover crop. We would not want to complicate the drilling operation more, but if we went to RTK then we might try injecting and later drilling into the injected slots.

Anyone on here know roughly the empty weight of a Gaspardo 6 Row Maize Drill. Spring 530 wanted to do the same idea

I always wondered why more people didn't combination drill maize with a powerharrow. A lot of the seed beds I have seen would have benefitted from it mind!

Yea definitely would of helped keep a consistent seed depth through out aswell and less compaction

We've gone back to hanging everything off the back. The front tank approach worked well but our homemade setup didn't come without it's issues and I just couldn't justify the cost of a new one.

The setup we started with at work this year. Probably going to have to mount the drill on the powerharrow this year as a fair bit will need ploughing/ sumoing.

Nom I meant the powerharrow part of the equation- around here is a fair bit of dirt that you won't get into a seed bed suitable for maize in a single pass.

Before cover crops we had to really hammer some of our headlands, now it is so easy to get a nice tilth

I think the biggest issue in the region is too much maize in the rotation and some unsympathetic soils which hang wet or contain a great deal of clay that doesn't respond to being pummelled too regularly. Ultimately the place grows grass nearly for fun and I think a lot of farms have put more emphasis on this since 2012.
