chindale lambs
Can I put you down for a Chindale tup? Or would you rather some ewes?..
chindale lambs
1 or 2 of the Suffolk lambs showed signs of getting a little dirty yesterday so gathered them into the pens this afternoon for a shot of white wormer and a Multi-vit drench. Haven't been near a lamb since they were born so I was looking forward to handling them as they looked good running about

Despite this spring being shyte and not much grass about, I am very pleased how they're doing and they were a bit bigger up close than I had expected!

My ewes look very similar. They are light and dull. They have had to workThanks.
Nah can see it on the ewes - fleeces are poor which is always a sign. They're working hard for sure. Actually surprised they are dropping their bellies now, but could be a lot not getting clipped til late on
Big lambs and wee ewes is the dream
Just done a faecal egg count tonight. Nemo eggs have gone from zero last Wednesday to 450epg tonight, so that's tomorrow's job sorted and will probably ovivac them when they're in.Other half of the Texel twins in and done today. These ewes appear to be doing better, they might actually clip! Lambs are looking real good in this mob

Noticed this morning the twins which I gave the cocci dose to 3 weeks ago, a few lambs have gone dirty. Just around the tail, not the Cocci scour where they get it down their legs.
I did worm them at that time as NADIS had us at Amber for Nemo - but it was snowing as I was doing them and felt like I was wasting my time, but they were in anyway (I do much prefer to dose for Nemo and cocci at the same time due to how the 2 parasites work off each other!). So I've gathered them and walked them over tonight to where the yard is set up, so that's tomorrows job. Been beautiful weather but I've just seen tomorrow is to be wet

TBH, if I wormed them the last week in May every year I wouldn't be far off anyway. But I like the certainty. Working off farm as well, I don't want to create work that isn't required.I need to get my head round fec's and get a kit... I just rely on "dirty bum - time to worm" for Nemo and Cocci
I am but I know for certain that Nemo is the only problem. I've seen the FEC at this point throwing up 200epg strongyles as well, which should really be treated. 50epg strongyles only last night, so I'll go with a BZ drench. Are you all using a white drench for that first dose?
That’s probably fairly sensible. If you find nemo eggs in a sample it’s a bit late anyway as the damage has been done.I need to get my head round fec's and get a kit... I just rely on "dirty bum - time to worm" for Nemo and Cocci

Nadis do a good nemo forecast which takes account of the weather conditions.
Dosing the lambs today, with Nemo eggs in their dung, and they're looking well I would say. A fortnight ago I very much doubt there would be worms in their gut to kill. A week ago, possibly, but I'm quite happy with my decision to dose today.By the time there are nematodirus eggs in the faeces, the lambs should have been dosed about two weeks earlier.
