Slurry Grant Scheme Autumn 22 for England

Interesting that it says concrete rectangular stores will be funded, thought it would just be limited to steel/concrete tanks.

50% grant rate it says but if I’ve understood it right will that grant only apply to going from four months to six months capacity? I.e. the first four months worth of slurry storage on a farm has to be 100% farmer funded?

Apologies if I’ve got that wrong but not sure 🤔

I had heard similar but 250k max grant would mean a hell of a store when 500k only buys two months storage.

Will be quite a stretch on cash flow when the entire store and vat has to be paid before grant is released. So 50 k grant will require 120k cheque to be made out first.

It states you have to maintain 6 mths storage for the duration of the agreement . How long is that ?
They will only fund up to 6 months storage so the second you put an extra cow on in theory you have to go and build a second covered slurry store to remain compliant .

Yes, but you have a large area of open concrete which gathers rain, don't you? Then you cover said yard over, possibly with a mid tier CS grant, put cubicles in it, replace the rainwater with slurry and you are still compliant. You may have been paid by the water company to concrete the yard in the first place. Whatever happens you need to be wealthy enough to afford the non grant portion of the cost whenever the grant comes up, if you aren't that wealthy you shouldn't be farming.

It would be iirc 5 years the same as majority of other DEFRA schemes have been.

To then find out because you forgot to dot a i on your application and the planning application was done a week early you can’t claim the grant at all.

I wouldn’t want to exclude rain water, our slurry is difficult enough to handle with quite a bit of rainwater going in with it, no rain water must be a nightmare!

How much money has the government set aside for this job?
With crazy inflation & the fact the government always makes calculation using years old data, and you do wonder how they could possibly know the current countries slurry storage capacity, I'm guessing they have budgeted 30% of what's needed 😂
