I think we all need to shut up shop now, wheat and barley off the combine could be a blood bath the next few weeks.
Once the ukrainians have emptied the silos of 20 million tons they will start exporting this years harvest of roughly 50 million tons just in case i would of thought. Russia will be moving its own too and wherever its going in the world it will ease demand somewhere else in the world.

It's not just Ukrainian grain that's important to ease this pressure on global food supplies - it's also Russian produce and Russian fertiliser.

Neither of those are under any kind of international sanctions.

But because of the reluctance on the part of international shipping companie to do business with Russia, Moscow has had all sorts of problems finding vessels to do its own exports through the Black Sea.

Is this not the real problem that as an industry we just keep doin it coz we always have I’m as guilty as anybody but we are heading for a crunch time soon I reckon I know a few older guys who are phoning mr tree planter ,,.!!!!!!!!
Problem is for most livestock farms they have no other options to graze the farm as it is not suitable to go into crops.

Worst thing you could do is start putting the farm down to trees !

I love your optimisation that when they look in the silos its all going to be there, pictures of Russian ships leaving full of wheat tell another story.

Edit to say, wheat has ended the day around £14 down, for a Friday on the news of a signed deal I was expecting near £50 to come off, are they not confident in the deal or the stock?.

See the bigger picture, food prices will drop some and people will have more to spend. Help to lower inflation and hopefully inputs will calm down too. Prices and inputs were never sustainable at the prices we have seen and the risk involved was scary.

Why will food prices drop? People don't just live on bread and most pasta comes from Italy, which is having its worse drought for 70 years. Damage has already been done to pig and poultry in terms of numbers coming forward. Its still won't affect gas prices, however diesel is coming down in line with oil price. I'd still hqppily wager 20 quid that wheat will be 300 again by new year. Once vlad and chums have cleared there backlog of fert and wheat ( remember they benefit financially from russian goods sold) they'll claim that ukraine are using ships to move arms and they go back to blockading the ports again.

You wouldnt expect it to drop much until the boats actually start to leave without problems. I expect the stock market and traders will play about with the news to earn as much as possible too

Yes who knows, time will tell. At least less people will starve in the world

It drops immediately if USA say their crops look marginally better than last month, they don't wait till its harvested.

Well fingers crossed they buyers honour the very well sold stuff, £120 ton over spot makes me think it going to stay on farm for a while. Still have well sold June contracts here and no transport apparently!

But there's caution, too - and a Ukrainian commodities analyst, Elena Neroba, has told the BBC that she is "doubtful" about the deal.

Neroba said it's unclear whether the deal covers only the 80 vessels currently in Ukrainian ports - which have a capacity to carry one million tonnes of grain - or whether it includes the 20 million tonnes currently held in silos across across the country.

Neroba also pointed out the blockade has caused Ukrainian farmers to lose income - which will limit their capactiy to reinvest in farming new crops.

That means Ukrainian farms will not be able to plant next season's crops, causing the price of grain to remain high globally.
