Which conventional baler?

no massive budget prob looking at 2/3k absolute max

we used to have a nh hayliner 370, it was sold at a sale years ago, i believe it was reliable and made decent bales,

ive seen some old jd units and some claas and nh which is best to avoid second hand?

IMO there are no bad balers. Only badly set up ones. Try to buy one in the best condition with known history.
 
People slate nh balers but I think part of it is snobbery. welger parts are eye watering
I always wanted a Welger but they seemed dear at sales for what they were. I did hear of a real nice one for £3500 off a contractor but they don’t appear very often. Parts are a fright yes a contractor split a cog on a round baler here years ago and it was dear.
Some of the NH balers have done a lot of work with little trouble they have some daft faults but nothing serious. One fella that had a few of them said they had all snapped drawbars just more of a nuisance than owt else

We bought a welger and didn’t get on with it

went back to nh.
 
Story goes Helmut Claas designed the knotter and even though it can work although temperamental his top fitters and designers begged him to put a superseded type knotter on their balers he wouldn’t
