Marfona normally are like a forest and really hard to stop. I usually let them get too big.
Won't be needing to open them up with any desiccant this year.
The soil hasn't been wet since the day they were planted. Can still see the fert in the ridges. And I don't know what temperatures they can stand but they are that warm that I reckon they are cooking in the ground
Yeah got too big last year on me.this year totally different story

When did you start irrigating them? Some people round here were irrigating before the potatoes had even emerged and have continued ever since yet there crops look very poor, I wonder if it's because roots haven't been encouraged to search for water early on and they can no longer keep them moist.

Yes, held off to start because I wanted them to root. On the cloudier parts they just never got going.

And to cap it all I opened this today. Doesn't look like I can hold it off much longer!

It was no surprise at 8.51 today to receive a call from someone from AHDB saying I could settle my account over the phone if I wished. The account was not outstanding so while they were on the phone I let them know just what I thought of this crap organisation. This brought to mind just what are they doing with data they hold and how secure it is now that potato and horticulture sectors no longer exist. I had paid their account and I would expect it would be the last I would hear from them. It was a blessing to close them down but they still try to come back to haunt us. It's also about time they dropped the "H" and started to do better as they keep telling us. I will try emailing them for an explanation but if past performance it anything to go on I don't expect a reply.

Who’s putting them up for next week.? Main crop will need to be £400+ Before Christmas to help pay for inputs and lack of yield.
Still plenty old crop in cold store up here apparently, supermarkets will be trying to hold back price rises as long as they can.
I would imagine a lot of growers on contract will be a bit worried, especially when a lot demand a fair percentage of bakers in the sample.

Can't keep cold stores running for nothing in this heat.

Anyone currently lifting sagitta, what size Webb are you grading them over and what bag count are you getting? A large percentage of mine are now completely dead, wondering whether to make a start or if I'll have to wait to sell smaller potatoes !
