The ones we used to buy from Kelso never lived long. Buy grass reared ones privately now, much better.Must be alot of tups die the amount that get sold every year ?

I would imagine that is due to cast prices being good and people are turning them over and keep their tups young and fresh..........If you tot up how many tups get sold at all these sales plus all the private ones then a lot of tups can’t last very long

Some don’t seem to learnAnd yet by that same observation - an awful lot of shepherds/farmers just keep buying the same show ponies year in year out so we must presume they are happy with the mortality rate, or at least see it as acceptable
It is a shame as I used to enjoy the day out. About 90 mile journey up A68 on a lovely September morning , one of the milestones of the year. Never mind going up this weekend to buy privately.Snap.

If mod beeding does it make much difference how long tups last as don't they need placing every two years to prevent inbreading?
