Put it in the dyke back, the mother was back to it by the time I’d done another couple of runswhat happened to it. pity you had your hands on it as it is said it's mother won't look at it now. don't know how true that is but at least you saved it from the mower.
This little fella had a close shave, just spotted him in time

not tame at all they just crouch down in the grass to hide, it moved a couple of times but just into more uncut grass, so next run i spotted it again and moved it into hedge bottom where some tall grass is left uncut, it was pretty vocal when i picked it up and kicking a bitDidn't realise you had kangaroos up with you!
Very tame indeed!

We aren’t exactly sure in the history of this tank, we know it was here in 1927 when great grandad bought the farm but we don’t know the exact time it was built.
Dad remembered either Grandad or Great Grandad telling him that they used to have to empty the tank with an old diaphragm pump, you could see evidence of where the pump fitted once we got the concrete stripped back

Then once we got the lid removed we found the old pump, this hasn’t seen day light for at least 96 years

The construction of the roof was 8” sandstone. Theses measured 2mx2mx200mm and weighed around 2t. Makes you wonder how they moved them from quarry to farm and lifted them in place back then

Then we think in the 50’s great Grandad put a concrete slab over the lid, went a bit overboard with 2” of concrete mind

Finally we shuttered an poured it with mesh and 30mm reinforcment bar, if my work lasts another 100years I’ll be happy
