Did you burn the grass off first? On the ones drilled into grass?Had a good walk around the turnips today and got varying results hopefully all will make a crop

Baled it for haylage, waited 2 weeks to Green up a bit, burnt off then drilled a week later, some patches have started greening back up again with grass though
it is real old pasture that was very matted in the bottom so prehaps I should have just ploughed it upI read once about a fella in the Scottish islands putting a lot of rape direct drilled into grass I liked the idea of it his crops looked great but I did think there was more to it than met the eyeBaled it for haylage, waited 2 weeks to Green up a bit, burnt off then drilled a week later, some patches have started greening back up again with grass though
I did it last year after the drought, we were seriously burnt off though if you remember, it came really strong and was away before the grass came back!! Be no good doing it into good pasture without spraying off first, I rarely work any ground up these days, just burn off an straight in with the aitchison drill
I can stand in parts of the same fields that make my direct drilled crops look great
