I will lie awake tonight thinking of this conundrum.I’ve asked the same question of various experts and they always say that it shouldn’t make a difference, but I think they real reason is that they don’t know.
I’ve always thought it must make a huge difference if the eggs are being flushed through in loose, black squit, compared to dry brown pellets.
I discussed this at length with an Aussie worm geek at a parasite conference (my idea of a good time ) ...the outcome was that they used to recommend using a sliding scale for different DM% but it was so difficult to accurately estimate the DM that they gave up.Do we need to make allowance for this when calculating the FEC? Suppose lamb A, 30%DM dung and lamb B, 60%DM may have identical worm burdens but would you expect to get the same FEC result? How would they vary? Anyone sufficiently anal to have worked it out?
