They are surely going to look for ladders, PTO guards, abrasive wheels and the like as they can't possibly know what machinery you have on the premises. Unless a machine is fully guarded and has all the warning stickers in place etc and you have certificates for it all it may be easier to temporarily relocate chainsaws, angle grinders/bench grinders and similar to your garden shed or man cave.
Telehandler load chart and warning beepers etc all present and correct? Man baskets- they don't like them so yours better look the part.
You've a helmet for the quadbike as well or is that going in the garage behind your car out of sight?

I didn’t have a compliance sticker for my small workshop air compressor and bang…the visit was then chargeable.
5 hour visit at £140 /hr plus office time writing up the report. I think it ended up costing nearly £1200.
They sat in my kitchen from 9-11am but couldn’t accept a cup of tea ‘as it could be seen as bribery’. So I sat there drinking tea and eating biscuits alone while answering daft questions

Wheel the compressor into the garden shed then. If they ask where it is tell them it's away having it's annual refurbishment and pressure vessel test.

IIRC you have two grades of compressor, professional which goes to 150 psi or thereabouts and should have inspections and certificates and lower grade stuff max 115psi or thereabouts which has no requirement for paperwork or inspection.

I would guess it works the other way around, you would have to prove to them it’s not yours and you don’t use it

It is not done on pressure alone, but pressure multiplied by receiver volume, from memory below 250 bar.litres does not need testing but don't take my word for it. So less than 10 bar and 25 litres no test, above that needs a test.

Correct. It’s an annual check similar to LOLER that’s required to bigger compressors that have more stored energy. Requirement comes from PSSR regulations.

Need an annual inspection I think. Want to see a sticker or note in the diary to show you’ve done it.
Another trick is to remove pto shafts from gear and ‘put them away’ ready for repair. Check chains important , might be worth ordering a handful.
we had an old calf house and the boy had carelessly knocked a few blocks out of the wall so hired some heras fencing to put round it.
fragile roof signs, bull signs, moving machinery signs. A general H&S sign is good too…… report to office and use hi viz/hats sort of thing.

Definitely written policies, visitors book, induction for visitors & new starting staff, an accident book, maintenance records, a COSHH folder & training records.
Don't forget about PAT testing, Loler certificates and adequate PPE.
Also simple RAMS for things like:
working at heights
hot works
confined spaces
rodenticides
lone working
noise
dust
etc etc
All signed off by everyone doing those tasks. Our RAMS spell out the hazards & risks, then give a step by step of dos & dont's for people doing the task.
Obviously becomes much more simple if there are no employees.
