What amazes me sometimes is what farmers consider as good auctioneering.
Absolutely the gentleman selling the lambs last Saturday made a terrible job in my opinion. Often making mistakes when saying breeding, struggling to grasp the concept of an equal share being retained. Second time I have seen him auctioneer and been totally underwhelmed, the first instance being a dispersal of a very well noted flock within the same breed. He done the occasion no justice at all the night and flew through the lots.

Just seen an album on Facebook of tups people have put up for sale and then kept. Reading through one flock seem to have bought a share in 5 or 6 stock tups, all sons of tups they’d sold. Can anybody explain what’s going on?

RH? Good auctioneer imo, been a great addition to them, knows the value of stock, could sell store lambs all day.
selling tups is a different ball game right enough especially when the majority of lambs have very little folk on them.

If they are buying on the type that they like and ram they have sold has bred well…is there anything wrong with buying sons of a tup they have sold? They are larger flocks than most pedigree breeds so that won’t stop them being able to be used properly.

Again, no issue, but it’s the number involved that marks it out for me.

He is an average at best auctioneer imo and should not be near the breeding sales. I dont think he would of been in the rostrum had the bull sales not been on. Agree he can sell store/prime lambs as that is his background. Didnt make it as an auctioneer first time round then went to the killing house, they eventually got fed up of him also.
